I am going there to visit next week and taking my wife, and two daughters (4 and 2). We like to hike but obviously the kids can only do so much at that age. Any suggestions which things are the best to see and which things the kids might enjoy? Thanks in advance.

Pigeon Forge TN and Dollywood, and Gatlinburg are not too far away. Biltmore House in Asheville. Blue Ridge Parkway. Cherokee Indian Reservation. Great Smoky Mtn Railroad. Small towns in the area worth seeing are Spruce Pine, Hendersonville, Boone and Blowing Rock. Visit the Mast General Store. Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock (if it's still open, there has been talk of closing it for a couple of years, if they do, it will be a shame.) Be sure to stop by one of the local cheese factories.

Come down the mountain a bit and take the kids to KidSenses, in Rutherfordton NC, A great museum for children that age. Eat ice cream at Doc's. While in that area, do Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. Lake Lure is where Dirty Dancing (and other movies) was filmed. You can take a boat ride, eat lunch at the Lake Lure Inn, or go to the beach. Ride the big elevator to the top of Chimney Rock. Buy silly souvenirs in the village.

Have a fun trip!
