A prickley pear is from a cactus plant and is shaped like a pear, hence prickly pear, but turns almost an reddish eggplant color when rippened. This desert cactus fruit holds more seeds than the kiwi fruit.
What you described, in your own words is a kiwi, but it is more of a pale green to almost white looking color on the inside and holds so many tiny black seeds.

Custard apple ?
Edit: how is a kiwi fruit white on the inside ! If the pips are big and black and shiny, my guess is custard apple.

Really funny I should check the questions today because just today I asked my neighbor (I am currently in Mazatlan, MX) was that strange fruit was on another neighbor's tree. Sure enough, it's a guanabana. I found it under the name soursop, and other's in the same family are atemoya, cherimoya and sweetsopare. I have been told they are WONDERFUL!!!!
Enjoy!
