The answer is, how young? If you were a minor you do not have a record unless you were tried as an adult and convicted. If you were an adult you could be fired when your employer learns the truth. They do not have to fire you but could use it as an excuse. If you lie to get a professional license that would be committing another crime. You should have really given more details in order to be answered properly. Good luck.

It's perjury if you're sworn on oath. It's fraud if you're lying on a job application or a college admission application. For perjury, you can receive a fine/penalty and maybe some nominal jail time. For fraud, you might be able to get away with it initially, but it if it discovered at a later time, you may be terminated. Best practice is to tell the truth - it shows strength of character to admit mistakes honestly, no matter how embarrassing. Good luck.

Well, touchy. An employer can terminate you later, when and if they find out you lied on your application, but until then, you still have a job. You really can't get into much trouble by not telling them, like have a mis, or felony thrown at you, unless it says, "under penalty of purgery, I sign this...."

Lots of trouble.

You could lose your job in the private sector, or (if the government catches you lying) get charged with as much as perjury (depending on the context of your lie).
