My husband and I are thinking of naming our baby Tahna. Pronouced like Donna, but with a T. What do people think about the spelling? Also I'm afraid that people will call her Tonya her whole life, instead of Tahna. What dose everyone think about it?

The name we're thinking of is TAHNA. I was trying to helpe people pronouce it by using the Donna, but with a T example. Again the name is TAHNA. Thanks for the advise from people that understood how to pronouce it.

I have a very, very unusual first name. I love Tahna,...it is beautiful. I never hated my name, and yes, most everyone will mispronounce it! Lol No biggie though,...I wouldn't change it for anything!
I took all 5 days in the hospital to make my daughter's name official, even though we loved it. I was far, far too caught up with what others would think. Turns out everyone LOVES her name and how unique it is. We are soooo happy that we didn't go with a "safer" name. Good luck sweetie!

Its really cute! People mistake my name all the time! Your name could be simple and people will still mispronounce it. Its really pretty. If you want a different way of spelling try Thana, Tawna, or Tonna. The spelling is pretty already no need for change. This isn't a good name for elderly people to pronounce. I don't think you'll have too much of a problem with people calling her Tonya except for older people. Good Luck and Congratulations! I hope she comes out healthy and beautiful!

It's a very weak attempt at giving her an original name. Tahna is an opportunity for all of your ill concerns, indeed. Should you have the teensiest shred of doubt, by all means, throw it down the trash shute and start chewing the fat with your husband on another possibility, because based on your list of concerns, you're already not so sure about the name. Place it where it belongs and do some more hunting.
Good luck and congrats.

I think you are right people are going to think she says Tonya when she introduces herself and people when they read her name will think its a missprint and call her Tonya -(people also spell Tonya Tanya which I why think they will see the "h" as being in there by mistake). This name seems like too much work to me, mostly for your daughter!

I think people will definitely call her 'Tonya' a lot. The name is cute, but people are never going to be able to spell it or pronounce it, so that's something you need to consider. And definitely no personalized items anywhere.

If you keep the spelling like Tahna, I don't think it will be confused with Tonya. It's a cute name...very different, I've never heard of it before.

I like the name Tahna. It's very pretty and I've never heard it before. I like it so much, I just added it to my ever expanding list of baby girl names. I would ignore all the comments about worrying how other people pronounce it. Who cares? You like the name. Its your child's name. She will know how to say it and will be able to correct someone who says it wrong. In fact, children with difficult name spelling and pronunciation are often more outspoken than children with names like Jane or John. They learn to speak up for themselves and about themselves at an earlier age.

looks and sounds good. but tahna could be mistaken for "tann-uh" how bout the spelling "tawna"? Keep in mind, you want to give a good powerful name. Expect her to have a professional career without giving doubt to others if they pronounced her name correctly. Sorry, i think of the far future also, not just grade school.

Oh Honey, don't listen to the people who can't read. Kenzi, take a phonemes linguistics class... and FYI "Pronounced" is the word you're trying to use. I have a very unusual name, and trust me, she'll be frustrated as a kid when she has to repeat it 78 times, but she'll grow to love the uniqueness. Tahna is a BEAUTIFUL name!

It's a pretty name, but your fears might be valid. You and she will probably spend a lot of time correcting people as to the pronunciation. But don't let that stop you if you really like the name.
