hands down the greatest ever

A great QB, Top 20 all time, not greatest ever.

With 45+ years of watching the NFL here is my Top 5:
1) Elway
2) Marino
3) Unitas
4) Staubach
5) Montana

To Willy - talk about a R-Tard - Elway never lost 4 SBs, he was 2-3 in the 5 SBs he appeared in and the first 3 Denver would have never even been there if it hadn't been for Elway. He carried those 3 teams to the SBs. The 5 I listed as the best could carry a team all on their own talents. Favre is a great QB but never has had that talent.

Not the greatest quarterback ever.

Favre is in my top five for greatest quarterbacks of all time. He never has missed a start for Green Bay and was always there for them when they needed him most. You could make a case for him being the most valuable player to a franchise for an entire decade. Without Favre at quarterback the Packers would not have been nearly as successful. Will be a sad day when he retires for me because I always respected him as a quarterback even though I am a lion fan. (Favre had some of his greatest games against the lions as I was often a spectator of this.)

This is how I would rate the top five quarterbacks ever
1. Roger Staubach
2. Johny Unitas
3. Joe Montana
4. Brette Favre
5. Dan Marino

DEFINITELY NOT THE GREATEST QB EVER! One of the greatest, maybe top 20 greatest of all time, but not the greatest. I used to really like Brett Favre and I'm not even a Packers fan, but the last couple of years, it seems like all he does is whine.

John Elway was much better.

GO BRONCOS!!

Great QB...You cannot call someone with ONE Super Bowl the greatest QB ever, like diehard Peyton Manning bandwagoners are trying to do...Try Joe Montana with 4 Super Bowls...Favre is in the top 10 ever though...

Only top 20? Are you kidding me? Roger the Doger at #4.

R-Tard

Favre, Montana, Unitas, Marino, and Sammy Baugh. Those are the top 5 and any one of them has a legit claim to the top spot.

I remember Peyton Manning losing 41-0 to the Jets (THE JETS!!!) in the playoffs, Roger only won one Super Bowl too (and who knows without the Doomsday Defense they may not have won),and John Elway losing 4 Super Bowls. Trent Dilfer never did any of that. He won the Super Bowl, so is he the best?

Favre can easily be called the greatest, Roger Staubach top 20.

Not even Top 5 of his playing era:

Montana and Young when he was Young

Marino, Aikman and Elway during the prime years

Manning and Brady during his twilight

He's number 8 from his era. He's really not that good. Lots of interceptions. Some good stats when he was on mediocre teams and some good teams which he only 1 one Super Bowl with. And he only passed for 2 more yards than Desmond Howard returned for in that game.

No way the greatest ever, he throws way too many interceptions and he constantly took his team out of as many games as he lead them to victory in. I know that sounds ridiculous, but the guy has only one superbowl and without desmond howard's kick return who knows. I also remember an embarrasing playoff game when he threw 6 ints against the rams. I'm sorry Montana, Young, Aikman, Marino, Elway, Bradshaw would never pull that in a playoff game.

definetly a great QB. But if he wants to be known as a legend then he has to know when to stop. No offense, but when you look at jerry rice, he should have stopped a year or two before he did, because his last couple years on the seahawks were not great, and people started to forget about him. that could happen to brett if he keeps playing. all in all, i think brett has a sure shot at the hall of fame.
