You have 2 methods here, 1 is common in detail shops, 2nd is my own mix that I have used for 10 yrs and it will amaze you.

1. Get a toothbrush, paint thinner, small container, and scrub the wax out of the grooves in the plastic. Afterwards spread tire shine all over the area to put oils back into the plastic that the paint thinner took out. Just be warned, like detail shops, the shine will wear off, showing faded plastic again so you will have to shine n shine again for life.

2. My method. Hit up Lowes or Home Depot. Get a pint of boiled lindseed oil and a pint of paint thinner. Take an empty can or container and mix these at 60:40 (60 thinner, 40 linseed). Stir well. Wear gloves. Now matter of just taking a soft, lint free towel or a wax pad, foam pad, dip/squirt this mix on it and rub it on your trim as if it were tire shine. No scrubbing needed. Its a 1 step. Just spead it out even, you'll notice as you play. No need to wipe dry or anything. Just let it cure n dry. Depending on how dry the plastic is, is how long it will last. Normally lasts for weeks and after the 5th application, you won't apply it again. You should see my 2000 Black Blazer with 130k, most guess her at 30k.

This does not work on tires, so dont' try. Just makes a mess. If you don't like shine look, you can wipe down with lint free towel so its a satin shine. Not wise to use on interior as the linseed will chase you out of the truck.

Nice add for SUV's that I have gotten much comment on from mine. Get some rubberized black undercoating and black out each wheel well and anything that shows from under the truck. Blacking it all out gives it a look of lower stance and when I did it, many made comment " what did you do to your truck? looks good! "

It takes alot of scrubbing with a brush to get it out of the pits in the plastic. You may not be able to get it all, but you can at least get it so it's not so noticeable. Good luck!
