Cavalry was originally the term for mounted soldiers (soldiers who led charges on horse back).

Today, the horses are gone, but the US Army still uses cavalry: the have the Air Cavalry made up of attack helicopters and the Armored Cavalry made up of armored fighting vehicles (like the Bradley), and some tanks.

You are thinking of cavalry, which is part of a military force composed of troops that serve on horseback.

When you don't know what a word means, it is highly recommended to use a dictionary to learn its meaning. Sometimes it is hard to find a word, especially if you aren't sure of the spelling. In that case, you do the best you can and keep looking.

Calvary is another name for Golgotha, the hill where Jesus Christ was crucified. I used to get this word mixed up with cavalry all the time, too.
