OK, I'm a professional musician. My husband and I are thinking about having another baby. I have a girl's name picked out that I absolutely love- and not because it's related to music, I just think it's a beautiful name. Cadence Aria. I love it, but I don't want people to think I'm strange- I have this fear of people thinking "She just picked that name because she's a pianist." I know in the big picture, it doesn't really matter. But...I'd still like other's opinions. Thanks!!!

For the non-musicians, I'll define these.
Cadence- Sort of a "stopping point" in music.
Aria- An "air" or a song.

Well of course you picked it because you are a musician. And what's wrong with that? It's a lovely name. I hear Much Much Worse everyday, like Michelle or Tiffany. What a wastse of names. Cadence is a real name. I've heard it before. If someone can name thier kid Dar-Shawn or Rubu -sue you can certainly go with Cadence Aria.

I love it love it love it. Don't take out any part of it, Cadence Aria is beautiful.
And honestly, if people think you picked it out cuz you're a pianist, it's a good thing. I wish I had a profession that I could derive a name from, you know? It's so much more personal that way than picking it randomly.
Anyway, I didn't think pianist daughter, when I heard the name. I mostly thought Carmen i.e. the opera for some reason, lol? But that's good. It sounds great. Keep it.

I just adore the name Cadence, and was thinking just the other day, if I had another girl that her name would be Cadence.
However, Cadence Aria sounds too artsy-fartsy to me. I'd give her a very original first name or middle name and give her a not-so original first name or middle name. Aria is borderline, to say the very least. Cadence is kudos, in my book.
How about, and mind you--I am just grabbing at straws here, Cadence Leigh or Cadence Anna. Those aren't wonderful choices, but they give you an idea of an original and a more widely accepted name that will give your daughter the option of dropping one or the other. Give her some options. Way way way too many parents get carried away and give their children the most puke names out there like "Apple" (Gwyneth Paltrow) or "CoCo" (Courtney Cox-Arquette). I mean, I want to barf!!! You should hear the more outlandish names that some of these Hollywood parents call their kids. Cher with her daughter "Chastity"...POOR THING!!! That's one of many pukifying titles. Think of your kid first and your enthusiasm at a distant second. Your kids pride for wearing their name on a white sticker label at a seminar, should be key....KEY!!!!
Of course, my opinion only.
Hope I've helped.
Good luck.

I'm a singer and a violinist.....Cadence isn't that obviously a musical term because it's frequently used as a regular name. As a singer, I consider Aria to be a pretty name. I don't see a problem.

However, if you were to name her Aria Cadence, people may consider you too devoted a musician. But I think Cadence Aria is cute and shows your love of pretty names and reminds your baby girl of the importance of music. People will find it cute, if they actually get it.

Good luck!

I think it's a lovely name, and so what if you picked it because you're a pianist? Lots of people give their kids names that reflect their interests or commemorate a certain date. I know of several girls named Noelle, Christy and Holly because they were born on Christmas Day. Nowadays the trend is to depart from the traditional, so I think Cadence Aria will be just fine. But what if you have a boy? Please don't name him Arpeggio Crescendo! Just kidding. Good luck! I hope it is a girl.

I have been a rock musician for 30 yrs (30 yrs. Wow! When did that happen?) I am surprised you are so concerned about what anyone thinks. I love the name. Its a comfortable name to say, it flows, it has tempo. It lets me know that you are unique, creative, sensitive and cool. It doesn't make me think you're strange. Worrying about what other people think of the name you choose for your baby is, however. Be yourself. You're very likeable. If someone doesn't see this, you don't need them in your life anyway.

Well...even if you did pick it because your a musician that would make sense because thats what you love.. I love the name Aria....my husband was just saying the other day he thought it was beautiful too. Maybe you could just use one of the names instead of both if you are really worried about it, but honestly..you can name your kid whatever u want. That guy Ashley Angel Parker or whatever his name was...called his son Lyric and I thought that was a great name..for a boy or girl.

I think the name Cadence is lovely. I like the middle name as well, but I wouldn't use them both to address her. Call her just Cadence, not Cadence Aria, but keep the middle name on her birth certificate.

I've always had a weird name, so if you give her this name you propose, give her also a short explanation of it's origin to go along with it, cuz otherwise it ends up being a pain. My name is Skye, and I hear comments on it all the time, and have been called every word remotely connected...pie, skytrain, skye high low, cloud, earth, ozone and atmosphere! One little boy of five that I met one day was convinced that I was only joking about my name and insisted I was cloud for about a week! Another lady who was drinking screamed "Dawn!" across the room until I realized it was her interpretation of what my name was!! Also, you can't fade into the background cause everyone remembers you!

I like Candence. Aria is too strange. I'm a musician myself so I know about arias but I don't think it makes a good name. The name I like that isn't at all music related... except it's Elvis Presley's daughter's name... Lisa Marie.
