The octane rating of gasoline is a measure of it's resistance to preignition (if you've experienced it while accelerating under load, it sounds something like marbles being shaken inside a coffee can although somewhat muffled). The higher the rating, the more resistance to preignition. Most modern fuel injected engines are designed to perform perfectly well on regular gasoline (see your owner's manual to find what yours is designed to run on). Using higher than recommended octane fuel in your vehicle is a complete waste of money. You get no more power, nor do you get any better detergents in the gasoline.

Gas wise Regular. Higher octane the faster it burns. Other recommendations would be to use a fuel injector cleaner every 3-6 months good one is BG 44k or Seafoam. Check sparkplugs and spark plug wires, put a K&N air filter so it frees up the breathing of the engine. Tire pressure as well helps on MPG's.

Use whatever octane is recommended by the manufacturer. If your car is made to run on 87, the slight benefit you might see using premium will be more than offset by the additional cost of the fuel.

The only difference between all of them is the amount of detergents in the gasoline. The gasoline rated the highest premium has the most detergents in it, so your actually paying for the detergent than you are the gas. As for performance it strictly depends on the car.

Its good for your car to run premium once in a while, it cleans your fuel system. You will get better mileage with premium but not enough to make your purchase worth it. I would just buy regular.

It all depends on the compression rate for your engine. The higher the compression rate, the higher octane you can use. Check with your car's manufacturer. Have a good trip.

I would suggest using what the manufacturer calls for. If your car calls for premium, then use it. If it only calls for regular then use that. Good luck and have a good trip.
