Is there any way that a person can think homosexuality is wrong and not support it, yet not be labled a racist, bigot, nazi, hitler, warmonger, blah blah blah? Can't someone have an alternative view than liberal homosexuals and still be respected for their different beliefs?

NH Baritone, who said anything about religion? can't it be a personal choice of mine without any religious motivation behind it?

Absolutely, in my opinion. The bigot labels come with the manner in which the disagreement is presented, not the disagreement itself.

That is a difference of opinion. It makes one curious, now that I see the board you posted this on if it was to drum up trouble?

Plain and clear your beliefs are that and anyone can label you with a name, such as bigot to try and justify why they are correct.
To not support homosexual behavior is a christian belief. Some say that means you hate people that choose to live the homosexual lifestyle, which is not true.
Hate the sin, love the sinner ..

If you don't exemplify hate, then I dont see you correctly being labeled a nazi or other hate names .. If someone does call you them, then that is their problem for not accepting a difference of opinion.

Here is the thing Matt, you can disagree with what ever you choose and it does NOT make you a bigot. You think being a homosexual is wrong, fine. As a gay woman I dont consider you a bigot, nazi nor whatever else you listed. What makes a person a bigot is trying to impose his or her views on others or trying to limit the rights of others. I disagree with lots of things but I am not trying to subject others to my beliefs. I do however take exception to your use of "liberal homosexuals" some of us are actually quite conservative.

Well yes, While I support people and their choices i still understand their will always be people who think differently than me. The fact that for the most part peoples upbringing does say that homosexuality is morally wrong, there is still a respectful way to go about saying your against it. Not using obscene and offensive words, IE: fag. Instead use Homosexual, or people of the gay persuasion. If you think its wrong you have your right to your opinion but there are ways to go about it without being rude. Remember that and you can have you stance without being looked upon like a bigot. Respect with opinion.

Let's see.
bigot
big·ot (bĭg'ət)
n. One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.
I'll let you answer that one. Are you intolerant of homosexuals, or are you merely disagreeing with them?

racist
racist

adjective
1. based on racial intolerance; "racist remarks"
2. discriminatory especially on the basis of race or religion

noun
1. a person with a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to others
Hmmm. personally I don't see the connection here. You didn't say anything racist according to this definition. So in this case, you are not racist. IMO

nazi
adjective
–noun 1. a member of the National Socialist German Workers' party of Germany, which in 1933, under Adolf Hitler, seized political control of the country, suppressing all opposition and establishing a dictatorship over all cultural, economic, and political activities of the people, and promulgated belief in the supremacy of Hitler as Führer, aggressive anti-Semitism, the natural supremacy of the German people, and the establishment of Germany by superior force as a dominant world power. The party was officially abolished in 1945 at the conclusion of World War II.
2. (often lowercase) a person elsewhere who holds similar views.
3. Sometimes Offensive. (often lowercase) a person who is fanatically dedicated to or seeks to control a specified activity, practice, etc.: a jazz nazi who disdains other forms of music; tobacco nazis trying to ban smoking.
–adjective 4. of or pertaining to the Nazis.
I don't remember you saying anything that would lead me to believe that you were a nazi. By the third definition, I would leave that to you. Do you seek to control homosexuals?

warmonger
–noun
a person who advocates, endorses, or tries to precipitate war.
Nope. Not unless you intended to cause a disturbance by asking your question. I would judge that you did not do that.

Yes, because everyone is entitled to their own opinion. To sit there and say, "You MUST accept this lifestyle, no matter what, or you will be labled a bigot/nazi/racist/etc" takes away that person's freedom to choose. No one is going to agree with everything, but to callously lable a person for daring to have an opinion different then your own only makes you that same bigot/racist/nazi/etc.

My best friend and brother is bi, one of my best gal pals is gay. I admit, I don't like the homosexual lifestyle, but I don't' sit there and tell them they can't live their lives. there are things about me that they don't like. One doesn't like my religion. Does that make them bigots/racists/nazis/etc?

I feel that, like the bible states, homosexuality is wrong. But as a strong follower of the bible i also know it says love your neighbor and do unto as you would them do you. Therefore, i'm against homosexuality, but i'm not a bigot. I cant, as a human being, be intolerant of another person's right to there freewill to do for themselves. It isnt my job as a christian to judge but to abstain.
I think people take the bible's words "Love what is good and hate what is bad" to a sinful degree. I believe a more true interpretion would be towards your own pratices of what is good and what is bad.
Fornication is a sin, there is no degree of sin.. its a sin. So as to homosexuality. If i can work and converse with those who choose to fornicate freely i should extend the same courtesy to those who are homosexual.
I dont, though, associate with neither by choice of "bad association spoiling useful habits". Though unlike a inhumane level most people have taken that is disgusting. I dont run for cover like it is a plague. They are human beings who simply have different pratices than me. So like i said earlier, i must continue to give them the same courtesy i would want given myself.

Hm, that depends on why someone would be against it. To think that it is wrong is okay, I think being stupid is wrong, as long as you do no more then think it, or if someone asks state your views on it, you say what ever you feel in a respectful way, then yes, yes of course, but if your going around making a big deal of it, then no, you cannot be respected for it. I like to just let people do whatever they want because, who am I to pass judgment, to say that anyone is wrong and I am right, and otherwise who cares, they aren't doing anything to hurt anyone, so live and let live.

THE ANSWER IS NO!

Many people.. (especially the religous kind). Try to pass of their judgemental, opininated views on the world and TOTALLY miss the fact they are coming across as BIGOTS>> RACISTS.. etc. It is extremely sad whenever I witness this this because one of the main teachings of GOD that I remember growing up was LOVE + ACCEPTANCE. ( I no longer belong to any false religion).

If ANY AND ALL religions taught their members.. that it is NOT their place to JUDGE and should leave people live their lives.. the wrold would be a MUCH BETTER PLACE!.

What a great message to teach CHILDREN. If a person is black.. asian.. white..hispanic... poor.. rich.. handicapped.. and yes GAY. They all need LOVE and are our brothers and sisters. Afterall... aren't we all HUMAN BEINGS?

Intolerenace.. racist.. bigoted..sexist.. homophobic views.. ARE ALWAYS A LEARNED/TAUGHT behavior.

It isn't easy to go againts what is taught to us by our parent..s media.. society.. or RELIGION. But sometimes it is the best medicine we can take.

I hope you realize your mistakes and learn to accept people on a ONE TO ONE BASIS. In every race.. ethnicity..STRAIGHT OR GAY world.. there are good and bad people.. this is a UNIVERSAL LAW.

Throw out the bad ones and surround yourself with a mix of people .. GOOD people.. and your life will be so much better.

Yes, if you feel this way, it's an opinion, you are homophobic, but you can still be respectful, and thus your opinion is fine.

If you spread hate-speech, you are anti-gay, a different class. They're not just homophobics, they want to eliminate gay rights and even gay life. Those are the Nazis here.

One is an opinion, the other is a call to action to quell freedom.

I can agree to disagree with an opinion, and not judge the person as bad on that alone. But I will never ever agree with hate-speech oriented at anyone, it's verbal pollution and is the real problem for us all.

So yeah, homophobia is okay, you're not evil just for disagreeing with me.

That's a tough one. Maybe because I have a hard time understanding the concept of being against something that is just part of a person. I can't imagine being against blue eyed people, or tall, or short, or funny, or smart, or stupid. Especially if it has no baring on my own life. But I think we are all entitled to our opinions. If you don't agree with homosexuality that's fine. I just don't like when people come on here and call names and say we're going to hell, and things like that. I don't know, I just really don't understand it. I don't think you're a bigot or anything like that, but the concept of being against something that is MY private life is odd to me. Yep, I'm conflicted.
