Presley's parents decided to spell his middle name Aron, so it would match the spelling of his stillborn twin, Jessie Garon, but Elvis preferred the Biblical spelling Aaron. Just a year before his death, he decided to legally change it from Aron to Aaron. Upon obtaining a copy of his birth certificate from Mississippi, he learned birth registration had misspelled his middle name and they had it spelled as Aaron. Presley readily adopted that spelling and it was used on his gravestone.
