Well, while it isn't plagiarism or "cheating" in the sense that you didn't copy from anyone, it is lazy. It is also not a good practice to get into; taking shortcuts like that. You are cheating yourself of learning all you can and that severely limits your opportunities later in life.

It is cheating. You were asked to write a report for this class, and you are using one from another class. It sure as heck wont help you learn anything new, will it? Read another book, write a new report. It is your education and your future at stake here. Remember - if you're green you grow, it you're not you rot. Continue to grow - that is the purpose of education. Find a great new book and read it. Pax - C

Well, why are you re-using your work.
If you think it is appropriate for the class,
then talk to the teacher about this piece of work.
My guess is you are trying to avoid reading another book
and writing another report.
If this is the case, then it may not be plagerism
but it is not completing your assignment,
and it is trying to pass off work from one class
as work for another class,
and that IS considered cheating
by most schools and colleges.
You are mis-representing your work.

The way to go about this is to explain to your teacher and ask if that is all right with him/her. In order to turn in the paper, you will need to go over the paper and change what does not apply while adding whatever needs to be included in the paper. I don't thing you can just turn it in without some appropriate changes and the permission of the teacher.
You could also sell it to someone else who needs a paper, but that would make you unethical. So would using the paper without a discussion with your teacher.

How do you think people get through years of college? Everybody uses papers from previous classes. If you've got a paper that you can use, use it.
Trust me, there will be many more opportunities when you will have to do it from scratch. Take a breather on this one.

It certainly is not plagiarism. You might want to have a look at the content and revise it since often times we gain a different perspective on material as we mature. If you have edited it, it will be a new piece and therefore no one can question the validity of your right to submit.

thats right, it is your work, you can even quote it as a source. but not acceptable ethically as being for a current assignment, so re word it a little, quote it often and use it as an out line, but don't be that lazy and just turn in in the same way. if your not going to do the work, why take the class.

it is considered cheating. i don't know what the technical term for it, but if you just submit something you already wrote, then you are not doing your work for the current class you are in. it is in fact not allowed, altho, of course, people do it. at least change it up a little bit before you re-submit it--anyhow, what are you learning by doing that? nothing.

If you are allowed to use book reports, I don't see why not as long as you state that you have taken it from somewhere else.
However it is much more creative, so read the report, take it in and write your own version of it.

I would hope you would be allowed to. If your teacher accuses you of cheating go to the pprincipal and make your case. You have a good one.
