What do you like to do? Perhaps taking some classes at the community college would be a good idea so you can get some better ideas as to what you like. It doesn't really matter if you are not that good at school. If you are a hard worker, anyone can excel and find a gratifying and rewarding career.

Do you have any interests in anything in particular? I knew I wanted the medical field even before I graduated. I decided to become a Medical Assistant. I graduated from that, and decided I didn't like it after all, so I just kept working at a Pizza place when I started the school. I worked their for 2 years until I joined the military where I received 2 degrees. I have only worked in one field even though I have had more than one schooling. I actually went back to school and got one more since then. I still have only worked in one of the 4 fields of the medical career.
If you have an idea of what your interests lie in, you should look up what jobs are in that field. If you go for something you know you will like, the school should be ok. It is ok if you don't think you are smart enough, but you know you are smarter than you think. It is a matter of motivation and discipline. I hated math, but all four had math in it. I passed.
You can do anything you set your mind to. Think about what you are interested in. It could be some sort of engineering, or medical, or sales, etc......
Schooling to further your career is essential to become successful. Although, I have known a few people who didn't graduate from high school and did very well. Like starting their own business in the masonary field. Factories make good money, but you have to decide if that is what you would like to do.
If you have schooling in the near future, consider yourself blessed that you have the option to go to school. There are people who do not have the option. Don't let that stand in your way. Be positive and if you have a hard time in a certain class, there will always be someone around to help you study or pass a test.
Best wishes to you.

I recommend going to college, even if you're not the best in school. At least go to a community college for a few months, because you really can't find a good job without some college.
Job options without college are basically working as cashier or stock at stores, waitressing/serving at resturaunts, working fast food...that type.
Even with a little bit of college background you can get pretty far. You can climb job ladders alot faster too.
Also, if money is an issue, you can have a part-time job somewhere and then of course college will help you out...you could qualify for financial aid, or recieve student loans, etc.
If you don't know what classes to take or what to do in college, then talk to a councelor there at the college, and ask to see the upcoming semester's classes and schedules.
Or you could work full-time for a year and then go to college.
Just keep in mind all the things you like to do, and all the things that you're good at when you make your decision on what you want to do in the end.

It will happen. First you may work at a dead end job that you hate for a little while until you find out what you want to do -- that's normal. Don't panic just yet. There is something everyone is good at. Although I have noticed one thing. Some people think because they are good at something everybody else is good at it too.
It isn't true. Something you find easy and that comes naturally to you is often difficult for other people
Lot's of places will let you enter and take make up courses to get caught up. They also offer tutoring services. But one day it will gell in your mind in the next few months. High school is limited so you don't see all the possible careers that there are in the world and sometimes it takes some searching. But one day you'll find that doing "this" sounds exiting, you have a talent for it and you enjoy learning about the job.

I did join the army imediately after high school (actually I joined the reserve while still in high school) and wound up an infantry Lieutenant at 18. But in Canada our system is quite different and I had excelled in our Cadet system (sort of like spending every summer from 13 to 18 in Basic Training then going on to more advanced traing. Plus during the school year you spend 1 evening a week and at least 1 weekend a month on military training. By the time you finish high school you have more than 2 years of military training under your belt
Plus due to the military self displine my marks were far from ordinary.
However they are not lying when they saying there is no life like it. It will change you and in most cases for the better in ways you never dreamed

BS that you are not "really that smart" - you just haven't found what interests you yet.
1. Go find a job that sounds fun to you.
2. Then check out the schedule for a local community college for the fall - look at anything that sounds interesting - Italian, basket weaving, volleyball, whatever. Try it out. You never know where it will lead.
3. Have fun! Keep asking questions!

Smart in school is totally different then smart in life! No body knows what to do after high school when they graduate... Trust yourself and go for it! Also, I know it doesn't pay but volunteer- non-profits don't care about degrees as much as the profit rule. Also volunteering provides valuable hands on experience. Good luck!

It doesn't matter if you are "not really that smart". Go to undergrad college. ANYONE. Work your butt off and then get into a really good graduate school and get a GOOD JOB. You have your whole freshman year to decide what you want to major in. Plus, you can't get a supporting job with a high school diploma. Whatever you do...GO TO COLLEGE. You'll thank me one day.

How about vocational school? Computer school? Or just take some time off and relax for the summer before deciding what job to apply for in the meantime.

I am graduating next Tuesday, so I can understand the problem, I just asked myself "what can you see yourself doing in 20 years professionally? Would this support you? Would you enjoy this?" Just asking myself this made me realize that I could see myself as a lawyer.. Good Luck! CLASS OF 2007!!!!!!
