Mac.
For some inexplicable reason, PC people seem to have the odd idea that Macs are only good for graphics. A little reasoning here. Graphics are the single most operation intensive procedure any computer can perform, and Macs do it well because they have serious process operation ability. All that other junk a PC does, a Mac does without even breathing hard.
Let's address a few cherished myths from the MS Fanboy club.
Mac don't get hacked or get viruses because it is an inherently more secure operating system based on Darwin Unix. Market share has nothing to do with it. Writing malware for a Mac has become something of the holy grail with the bad guys, and they haven't succeeded once, and believe me, they try. You may have read about contests aimed at hacking a Mac. In every one of them, they had to change the rules of the contest to make it artificially EASIER for the hacker to get into the Mac, because no one was getting it done. There are NO viruses for Macs. The stories are just that, fictional stories.
Macs are good at graphics and media because they are better systems. It takes serious computer capability to do that kind of work. Business and financial applications don't even get a Mac breathing hard.
Apple does NOT make all the software for Macs. They make the operating system, the iLife suite (bundled with Macs), and a couple of others. I use Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign Dreamweaver, Acrobat Pro), MS Office (Word, Excel, etc), and a smattering of other apps for my work. It is true you can't walk into Best Buy and find Mac Apps, but you can go into Fry's, CompUSA, and of course any Apple Store. Mac apps are available online by the thousands.
I have the same apps at home, plus a few dozen games, including the best sellers.
They're very easy to upgrade, and come with pretty good hardware out of the box. The kind of set-up most PCs upgrade to. If you were to configure a Dell to the same specs as an iMac or MacPro, and add comparable software that Apple includes, that Dell would cost a little more than the Mac. You get what you pay for.
Peripherals are plug and play, and yes, Mac's come with multi-function mice now.
Macs can have multiple operating systems loaded. You can be running in native OSX, and run windowze through parallels (we have one at work doing this) so we can used the ONE PC app we need, that isn't available for a Mac (Publisher).
I've used both systems. Windowze is clunky and bloated by comparison. A pain in the cyber-butt.
The next Mac OS, OS 10.5 "Leopard" will be out this fall. Apple moved all of their software engineers over to the iPhone project to get it out in June.
Apple innovates.
MS Imitates.

Dell and Helwett-Packard are 2 of the terrific and maximum renowned computing device manufacturers with the aid of the comprehensive international.yet whilst we evaluate the two agencies, or extra suitable yet, the business enterprise's products, that's the terrific? enable's see who the winner is in this Dell as against HP computing device combat. in many cases talking, the two agencies are fairly valuable manufacturers interior the computing device marketplace and that they have got a history and journey in generating those machines. they provide laptops from fairly affordable to very costly. the two between the agencies have famous computing device fashions that are designed for gamer (the Dell XPS and the HP Blackbird) and Dell even owns Alieware, an extremely huge-unfold call in gaming equipment textile. enable's communicate somewhat appropriate to the info of each and every of those 2 grand names. HP has so lots extra fashions available on the marketplace that Dell yet they'd start to strengthen the internet website. are not getting us incorrect, the region is helpful, yet Dell's website is lots extra relaxing to browse and colourful, fairly stay-looking. Dell supplies fairly from affordable computers (the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook could be offered for approximately 3 hundred money) to very costly (the Dell Adamo common computing device kind is $2000). I have a Mac and love it for the Iphoto, Ichat and Iweb. I had to purchase Mac office seperate and I have noticed a difference in the Mac Office compared to Microsoft Office. If you are gonna use it a lot for school/work, I recommend the Dell. Reason being, it has Internet Explorer. Mac only offers Safari for web surfing. Many websties are not supported by Safari. I'm now looking to purchase a PC for this reason. I know, it sucks. Mac offers Boot Camp program to install Internet Explorer, but they do not support it if you have issues.

Both are good products, but they cater to different markets. Apple is better for page layout and 2d graphics. For most people PC's are a much better choice, ie Gaming, playback of music and games, Office apps etc. price of hardware and software. Apple is not inherently less suceptable to viruses, but less people want to be the guy that screwed up apple than the guy that took down microsoft. Many people like XP better than Vista, but I belive there is less and less reason to stick with the old OS. There are many other good manufacturers, another way to determine what would be best for you is call ANY mfgrs tech support( not the sales dept). Tell them you want to ask "presales questions". Any good mfgr will help you, mine will, and we have US tech support.

I would have to say Apple will cost less in the long run. But if your firmilar with Windows and have never tried Apple before then stick with PC. If you have the money, go mac. It's that simple. If you just want a decent, cheap, and sometimes un-realiable computer then go with PC. Just my $00.2
