Obviously, it's only a good buy if it meets your needs, so consider what software you are running on it.
The price isn't bad, but isn't great either. One consideration: if you decide to upgrade to Windows Vista (which I don't recommend right now, but may be something you want down the road), you really ought to have 2 GB of RAM, and that could cost between $150 to $200. Can you find a notebook with 2 GB or RAM for less than what it would cost you to do that on your own?

Just wait another month or save a little more and get a Core Duo laptop with another brand. Have you looked at ASUS laptops? They come with 2 year warranty (so you don't need to pay for extended warranty) and come with bag/mouse. Keep a lookout for deals in your local area. AMD Turion is only so so...an Intel Core 2 Duo chip has better heat management and multi tasking. A 2Gb Ram is a better deal in the long run.

Not a bad price. Keep in mind - Acer is one of the most cheaply built laptops.

A bit high, I'd pay about 550 for that sort of system. There are better alternatives. And call their tech support and ask them "Presales" questions. Bet they can't answer them
