Im going to a resort in the Mexican Riviera, 1 hr. south of Cancun, and it is supposed to be a very nice resort. They have bottled water, so Im not worried about drinking water, but what about the water for brushing your teeth, bathing, etc...? This will be my first trip down there and Im wondering?

Also, what about the alcoholic drinks? They have ice in them right? Well, which water are the ice cubes made from??

I just dont want to get sick when im there.

Don't drink drinks with ice! Don't eat salad that's been washed in tap water. Even be careful brushing you teeth with tap water. My advise.....be careful, and take lots of imodium AD with you...oh yeah.....have fun!

LA Law is right....on the resort you should be OK....it's the trips outside the resort you have to watch out for.

Most of the resorts in Mexico tell you not to drink the tap water, but as for brushing your teeth it isn't a problem. If you feel unsafe, you can always use the bottled water when you brush. As for the ice, it is filtered. I have been several times and have never had any problems with the water. The Mexican riviera is very nice, you should have a great time.

Most decent resorts filter their water. I just came back from Mexico also. Had a ball. The water was ok. The drinks were great. I even had ice water! Of course, if you stay in a dive or go to a taco stand, you take your chances.

It pays to be careful and follow the rules to drink bottled water and drinks with no ice, etc... Having said that, we eat salads and brush our teeth with tap water and usually have no problems. But check out our page on Pepto-Bismol. My hubby used to get sick everywhere when we left home... Pepto-Bismol made all the difference: http://www.mousetourstravels.com/pepto-bismol.html
