Jimmie Foxx. Hit over 500 home runs, won a triple crown, and had over 1,900 rbis. Unfortunately for him he did this in the midst of the great Babe Ruth who dominated baseball headlines during that time.
The other player is Frank Robinson who is never mentioned with the greats. This guy hit well over 500 home runs, won the triple crown and won league MVP in both leauges.

In his prime I would say Roger Maris. Everyone knows about '61, but most people think he was a one year wonder. This isn't the case though...he actually won two MVP awards including 1961. He was a great player for a few years at the peak of his career. For an entire career there are a lot of good choices, but I would go with Frank Robinson. He's kind of the forgotten man among the top ten in home runs. I think this comes from the fact that he didn't play for any of the bigger market teams and he isn't a recent player (Sosa, Mac) I think the guy deserves more recognition than he gets.

Curt Flood. The St. Louis Cardinals outfielder had earned three All-Star appearances, seven Gold Gloves, and a pair of World Series championships. sued baseball for violating the 13th amendment (barring slavery) lost the case. pretty much made free agency because of this. all sports owe him for that. 1759 games played, .293 lifetime avg., 85 home runs, 636 rbi.
Don Mattingly-In 1987, Mattingly tied Dale Long's major league record by hitting home runs in eight consecutive games. hurt his back in 87 also and never really got over it. Awards

American League MVP - 1985
Batting Champion - 1984
Hits Leader - 1984, 1986
