tonight i found one of my firebelly toads squished on the floor. we never get them out and i know she was in there earlier today. we have 3 lights sitting on top of a wire mesh lid. there are parts lifted in the back but nothing for her to have climbed to get out. she would have had to jump at least 10 inches to get to the top and there is nothing there for her to clasp onto to get out. any idea's on how she could have escaped?

I've worked in pet stores, and I've seen these guys climb the glass of a tank, just not as well as a tree frog. That's probably how yours got out - climbed the glass and made her escape through where the screen was lifted.

Frogs are very VERY good at escaping. You should have a screen top over the whole thing to stop this from ever happening again.

I cant see your tank, but any spot larger than a quarter(provided your toad was an adult) could have been an escape point.

Sorry for your loss. Better luck next time.

I watched one of my fb toads climb the glass and slip out the mesh! I went to wal-mart and bought some plastic canvas(in the craft department) and attached it to the top!!!
