Call your local building code enforcement. If they do nothing then get your neighbors together and call your city council member. If none of that works, write the owner a letter telling him or her that the property is a nuisance and you would like it remedied.

You can find out who owns the property through your county tax assessors office.

I wrote a letter about the deterioration of the rental property next to my home, the owner did nothing. When one of the dead trees I wrote them about fell on my fence, it took numerous phone calls and over 6 months before they repaired it. They did eventually come and cut down the rest of the dead trees. The dead cars and garbage was still there though.

The house did attract the attention of the housing codes enforcement officer, and although all the junk cars are still there, all the garbage has been picked up.

The owners attitude has basically been as long as they pay the rent, he couldn't care less.

you can go to city or county records to find the owners name address and telephone number. You can also complain to the city about "health and safety" violations at the home. That's a hard way to go. Many times these thing go on for years. If you continue to run into a wall try talking with your local real estate agent. Tell him that you have been thinking of purchasing another home in the area but there is this awful house on the street you are interested in. Can he help you out? The chance of money coming in the future can open doors that good old bitching just won't move.

Good luck
