This is one of those continuing urban legends. There is no evidence that Amelia Earhart was a spy.

She was definitely not a spy since she disappeared before the war even started. She disappeared in the South Pacific on the way to New Guinea in 1937 and at that time the Japanese were nowhere near.

No, spies don't live that high profile of a life. It makes it hard to sneak into places you're not supposed to be when the press is following your movements.

No way! I did a report on her. She was just a pilot but there is a rumor she was spying on the japanese and they killed her.
