does affect the internet speed, it effects how fast or slow your system process things. how fast your programs run, or what program get to use the memory, hit alt/crtl/del will brign up wiondows task manager, hit the tab mark usage. this will show which program s are memory and to what extent. try shutting these programs, becareful of which ones yo shut down. can make system unsteady or restart.

YOU DEFINITLY WANT TO BUY MORE MEMORY, 512mb is hardly enough to run anything even a laptop. windows vista is memory hungry program. check with your system manufacturer to find out how much memory yourt system can handle, also which type ie speed, pin size etc

Your information superhighway speed isn't effected with the aid of the computer's ram or the different piece of hardware for that rely. The improve might in spite of the undeniable fact that be very effective as including greater ram is the main inexpensive thank you to hurry up a working laptop or computer.

To run Vista Ultimate well, you need Min 2g ramm. But internet speed is not really controlled by ram, it is your type of connection pipe (the throttling of your ISP), it ishow much space you have as cache, how much was precached, how much spyware you have, the settings of your connection. BE VERY CAREFUL downloading free "internet optimizers" from the net. MOST ARE SPYWARE. There are a few reputable ones, but I am bound by other reasons not to be able to recommend one over another. But a knowledgeable highschool or college kid can chage settings manually. You can do a free speed test on many web sites. By the way "Ultimate" does not necessicarily mean it is the ultimat for YOUR computer. It means it was the most advanced at the time of RTM. Most people are better served by Win XP, Win Home Basic or Win Home Premium. I have XP Pro or Vista Business on all my machines

Ram is the easiest way to make your computer faster. Ram allows your computer to be able to do more things at once, and also allows an application to have more things going on at the same time.

Ram does not affect the speed of your internet, your Connection does.

No, it doesn't. But it will affect the operating speed of programs, like your web browser.

For Vista, I would recommend buying at least another 1.5 GB of RAM.

Not directly, no. But your computer is working awfully hard just to run Vista, a little more RAM would certainly help.
