We call it Earth because early man used to call the land they walked on and soil they tilled 'Earth' before they knew they were on a planet.
The name just carried on through the centuries till someone realised we were actuallty a planet and Earth must've seemed like a good name at the time because simplistically the Earth is made up of Earth.

There is only one Earth. But there COULD be millions of planets that are very similar to Earth. We just haven't found any yet. Gliese 581 c does not count. It actually very different form Earth. probably not even inhabitable, even though it orbits its star in the inhabitable one.

Space is not necessarily endless, but I figure at least 100 planets within the "green zone" of a sun per galaxy as a very, very conservative estimate. 100 times 100 billion galaxies is 10 trillion earths within our horizon radius of 13.7 billion light years. So, ten trillion "earths" maybe?

we have two earths. To read more on that visit the site below. It is a very interesting thing to find out about. Wow! Two liberties! But it is not near our Earth. It was found by a European, that goes by the name of Jacqueline McGlade.

What do you mean? How many earths are there, or how many could fit into endless space? There is only one earth.

What not? Like you say space is endless and in perpetual expansion. Why should we be the only life in the univers?
