Use them for rags. I don't retire clothing until it's all but completely worn out, so not much else I can do with them.

If they are still good and I know someone that would fit into them I pass them on to friends. I sometimes donate to charity but having no car it can be hard to get big bags of stuff to the charity shop. In London if you leave anything outside your house, people come and take it away (people passing by in the street, believe it or not) so I have left piles of folded up clothes on my wall in the front garden and they all get taken within a few minutes.

Give them to the jumble sales. Scouts and charitable organisations frequently call to our door (or leave collection notices)... and then they are sold at Jumble Sales.
TBH... my Mum goes to a lot of jumble sales (it can be fiercely competitive in there - but smells a bit imo) and she's occasionally got me a lot of good stuff from 20p to £1 (near new perfect condition)

clothes in good condition I donate to my church
clothes that are torn or stained trash
i just donated 2 big bags of baby clothes to my church from my daughter.

Well if it's a shirt i really like that i grow out of i cut the picture out of it and safety-pin it to a different shirt. with other stuff i usually give it to thrift stores.
