That movie was the absolute bomb, you're right, the effects and everything were cheesy...yet I still loved it enough that I named my kitten after Maio Yin.

Kurt Russel doing John Wayne!
Kurt Russel Driving a truck at night in the rain wearing sunglasses.
Kurt Russel delivering lines like:
"What is that Egg, some kind of Magic Potion?"
"yep"
"Thought so."
BTW, if the effects weren't cheesy, I think the movie would have suffered for it!

I absolutely love "Big Trouble in Little China." Kurt Russell was just so cool in the film as Jack Burton, and Kim Catrall was sexy in the film. It's a interesting story, although I wished that it had a satisfactory ending (I'm not going to give it away, for those that haven't seen it). The special effects were cool for its day, and the martial arts in the film are great.

The character that Kurt Russell created was what made the movie. The inept macho man! Firing his gun in the air only to be knocked down by the falling debris. I also liked his Captain Ron character.

Yes it is a cheesy movie. But the action in it was pretty cool and I liked the whole supernatural thing. I still have to watch it when it comes on.

What makes it so awesome? Kurt Russel in tight pants!!
I agree, the movie is not a masterpiece -- and yet, I just love it! I think it's partly because it's different but mostly because it's FUNNY.
I've never met anyone who didn't like it either.

The " Three Storms " were way cool as well as " Egg ". I think Egg was a little comedy relief help. The martial arts and the story just " jelled ". It's one of my favs also.... So listen to Ole Jack Burton on a stormy knight on the Pork Chop Express..... and watch it again...LOL !

I loved it!
YOu're right, it was so cheezy but fun.
I loved Kurt Russell in it - he came across as a modern-day John Wayne. I loved when he shot the gun at the ceiling and then chunks of ceiling landed on him.
