never heard of anyone not taking the older currency,, sound strange to say the least.
Hell, they probably didn't recognize it as money.

Maybe just a dweep of a cashier! Against the law. 7Elevens franchise last time I checked. Next ones owner maybe happy for your money! Write to 7Eleven HQ and tell them the whole deal - maybe you get your next loaf of bread for free!

That is not only a bad policy, it is illegal. No one can refuse to take US currency in reasonable amounts for debts. "all debts public and private".
