We've seen how the Far Right and the Far Left people feel, but what about Moderates? Is the Left wrong to not be sad? or is the Right using a double standard to make the Left look bad? How do you feel?

I miss the old Yahoo boards. It would have been a blast :)

Jerry Falwell stood up for what he believed. Though, even as a Christian, I did not always agree with him, I admire people who are not afraid to face persecution to make a stand. Most everyone believes that they are right on whatever issues they believe in. But how many are brave enough to face the scrutiny to take a stand on those issues when it is not popular opinion. I don't know if I'm a far right, moderate, or whatever. I can't understand why we all must be labeled in our political views, or belong in this group or that group or somewhere in the middle. Whatever I am, my heart goes out to his family and friends. And I sincerely hope that Jerry Falwell is in Heaven right now.

I suppose any death is sad. But when it is a man who dies of natural causes in his 70s after a comfortable life it is a lot less sad than the horrors that are still going on.
I did not care for Falwell and I certainly will not mourn his passing.
I do not celebrate it either.

I didn't know Rev. Falwell. I have no feelings one way or the other. I did not agree with him but that doesn't mean I am necessarily glad he is dead. It also doesn't mean that I am particularly sad about it either. I don't think the right in general should be sad or the left should be glad. Each person has to decide for him/herself how to feel about his passing.

I won't miss him but i'm not glad he died. Kind of indifferent.

I think he was a hateful man who did very little to give non-Christians a positive impression of Christianity. My impression of Jesus and what he would expect his followers to behave like was certainly very different from how Mr. Falwell behaved on numerous occasions.

However, in a way it is always sad when someone dies, because you have to consider their friends and family and all the people who will miss them. It's the natural order of things, so one can only be so sad, but we can at least be considerate.

Just my two cents. ;)

I'm a conservative democrat.
I believe in free speech (including for Republican talk radio).
I believe in free expression (including for Christian Evangelists).
I believe in equality (not special rights for special groups).

A great man has died. I may disagree with none, some, or all of what he did.

He did a heck of a lot more than I'll probably ever accomplish. His loss will be noticed by many, many people.

Regardless, I hope I have the class and ethics to NOT mention any differences on this, the day, week, or possibly even the month he died on.

I don't need to (I'm not that needy), and I won't forget my views just because it isn't in the news anymore (I don't need a controversy of the week to occupy my time, like a supermarket tabloid dependent life).

I am sad for him and many of those who love him. They have my respects.

every death is a loss. falwell meant a lot to a lot of people. it would be ungracious to throw his faults up for view at this time.

It is good for America. Falwell was vehemently anti-American, and we should rejoice.

People can think what they want, that is until the thought police come to get you.
