That refers to dark streaks or dark edging around it's eyes, mouth and other facial areas. It really does look just like the fish has dirt on his face.

A koi with a dirty face means that the kois marking are not crisp. An example of this would be a Sanke koi that has black or red speckles on its face. "Dirty" markings would not just be limited to the face but could be anywhere on the body. Remember, koi are judged on the japanese standard of the variety and the more like perfect the fish is the higher its value would be and the more likely it would be to win a prize in a show.

WELL I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH THING. THE VALUE OF A KOI DEPENDS ON THE KOI SIZE,THE PATTERN ON THE KOI, AND COLOR. A DIRTY FACE COULD MEAN HAVING SPOTS ON THE FACE GOOD LUCK!!!!!

that's some prety hot water. i asume its a black container? if it is this may not be good for the fish. most pond fish don't like hot water. i suggest shading it as much as you can. maybe a water lily to put in it. water lilies provide great shade, and most bloom from shades of white, pink, to even yellow. as for other fish alternatives, i'm not sure. hope this helped.
