That night back in the 70's when my friends and I sent my model ship Tirpitz, filled with firecrackers and gas-bombs across Lake Havel in Berlin, towards the Communist side of the border. There were the occasional firecrackers exploding while on it's way toward the east side.
When that ship finally exploded into a fireball, it was hilarious, watching those East German Communist Border Guards flashing their searchlights all around the lake.
Hilarious, that is, until they opened up with their AK-47's and machine guns, pointing directly at us !!
Have you ever done a fast spider-crawl on the ground, searching for a tree to hide behind?
How we five managed never to be shot is still a mystery; but I'm happy they missed.

Three things right now..
1. The birth of my daughter. First, because you don't forget child birth, especially natural childbirth (no drugs). Second, because it was an amazing moment in my life.
2. The day I got divorced. It was like having 185 pound weight lifted off my shoulders. I didn't even realize how much someone elses' negativity could impact me.
3. The last week of my father's life. We knew he was dying, and he died with grace and dignity, surrounded by the people who loved him.

A few things:
- Warming up an arena crowd for one of Robert Kennedy's campaign appearances, and sitting only 20 from him.
- Meeting actor Vincent Price.
- My first experience in the RCA recording studio.
- The beauty of the sunset across a lake in the Canadian wilderness.

The first kiss from the man who is now my husband...the day my only sibling died...watching the World Trade Center buildings collapse...the first time I listened to and felt the power of a rock song (The Police, 1979)...that true love, whether for friends or family, really does last forever...

Unfortunately, it is a sad thing that happened when I was about eight. My cat had kittens and I found them in the garage, up on a high shelf. I was so excited, that I ran to my grandmother to tell her. (We were living in her house)
She came with me out to the garage and since they were so high up, she told me to climb the ladder and give them to her. (I thought she wanted to see them). She put them in a burlap bag and drowned them right in front of me. It left me in shock. I will never be able to get that day out of my head. I blamed myself because I was the one who showed her where they were. I had no idea she would do something that terrible.
That was 50 years ago.

The night they told me my 17 yr old daughter was in a coma, not breathing on her own and wasn't going to live (from a car accident)
The day she beat the odds. She came out of the coma, started breathing on her own, learned to talk & walk again.

the morning i was in the office, working on my computer, when my roommate said in his demanding voice, "come here, right now, come here!" so i pass it off as yet another one of his intense demands and ignore him. and then he said it again. he told me to come and see the tv, right now!
and so, here i am, looking at one of the world trade center towers that i had just seen when i had been in NYC recently burning, smoke billowing out of some of the top floors. so i said to my roommate, "gee, it looks as though a small plane flew through it," and then...
we see this commercial jet flying sort of sideways, then smashing into the other tower! OMG!
of all the things i'll never forget seeing, such as the brutallity and viciousness committed upon innocent but vocal youngsters in grant park on the night of the democratic convention in chicago, or rioting in watts, or the KKK burning crosses and then the houses behind them, and even seeing a murder occur once, i will never, ever forget the attack upon the WTC on september 11, 2001.
and it's really important that none of us ever, ever forgets that. this thing of destruction to the united states of america, to what we stand for, freedom and choice, and ability to go forward in our lives without government intervention, via suicide bombers attacking symbols of the usa, is too damned important to forget! just look at what's happening as a result of jihad! your kids and my grandkids will be subject to it, subject to crazy islamic fundamentalists bent on their path of destroying and killing us, we, who they say are the "infidel" only because we do not worship "allah" as god.
and you cannot ever forget seeing the victims of the SS concentration camps, or, pearl harbor. such things must be forever remembered, lest they be repeated.
