She doesnt let girls grades 5-8 wear spagetti strap tanks, skirts or shorts that are less then 3 inches above the knee or stuff like that. She takes out a ruler and mesures your skirt or shorts to see if their "appropriate". And if they are't you got to call your mom to bring clothes "sutible" for school. What's wrong with those clothes?

Its called a dress code...she is inforcing it. I think the shorts rule is slightly ridiculous though. They say that they distract the boys, cause obviously boys pay attention to girls, but more so if they have on low cut shirts, cleavage, or really short shorts. School is for learning, its not really to show off your fashion sence. Be glad you don't have to wear a uniform and you can wear what you want with just a few limitations.

If the PARENTS knew what suitable clothing is and/or knew what their children are wearing or sneaking out of the house to wear to school, then I think the principal could be more concerned about the proper scholastic education of her students and not worry about her students running around half naked. There is NO WAY I would let my little girls run around half naked, especially to school. I see middle and high school girls at CHURCH show more skin and clevage than what a proper adult woman should be showing. If I, a six feet tall woman can see down their shirts and their bras, then a boy who is taller than them, and even an adult male can do so. Yikes.

I think it's sad that your principal is doing the a job that the parents should be doing. Yet, that seems to be the trend these days. I hear it from my friends and sister who are public school teachers, in different cities and different states. The principal should be doing more important things.

I wear tank tops in the house when it's too warm to turn on the air or I don't think it's worth using the energy on (which is often). Yet, I generally have a Tshirt within reach should somebody knock on the door.

Given your composition and punctuation and grammar skills, for somebody in grades 5-8, I think you should pay more attention to your formal education and what you're not "supposed" to wear.

Yes, I was in high school and middle school once. I'm two weeks away from celebrating my 30th birthday. I completely understand if you think I'm "old". Yet, even if I wanted to wear something that didn't have sleeves and/or an actual collar, or skirts or shorts that barely covered my butt, I would not have been allowed out of the house. Actually, I did not have clothing like that because my parents either bought my clothes or monitored what I bought. Fortunately for them, I was into the oversized grunge clothes. They covered appropriately.

I would like my children to go to a school that required uniforms. (One of my public school friends sends her children to a private school that requires uniforms. Smart woman and her husband.) When I was in high school, I couldn't afford the "cool" clothes that the "cool" kids wore, even if I were short and thin enough to fit into them. I basically wore what fit and thought that baggy clothes hid things. Not wearing the "right" clothes can really affect a kid in high school.

MMM..what is wrong with you..Didint you read the School dress code...you know those papers they give you at the begginning of the year, that you and your parents singed without reading..yeah those..they said what you can wear and what not. If you principal is doing that is because she is follwoing rules. I understand that you guys are young and what to have your own style, but your style can cause distraction, and maybe boys cant concentrate because they are looking at you. So Dont you think that the school enviroment should be free of distraction in order to allow everyone to learn? you might not understand now, but eventually, you will get it. It is not being mean, It is following the rules to create a nice an effective learning eviroment. Be lucky that you can a least choose your clothes, cause here in texas many school have to wear uniforms.. and So did I when I was in school. Use your sexy clothes when you go to the mall and hang around with your friends, and please stop complaining..ONE dAy YOU WILL BE AN ADULT TOO

Enjoy your Summer Vacations!!!and wear those clothes While you are on Vacation!!!

they have to set a safe standard for everyone. i'm sure people already get away with stuff now. imagine if you could wear short skirts and tanks. then people would be tastless and probally be hanging out in places. my school has some rideculus rules, but it's only because of how far some people will go. i would love to wear a miniskirt or shorst or a tank to school, but i can't because there are too many people out there who would take advantage and just ruin everything.

i don't know but our principal tell us not to wear it but they do not buy our clothes or shoes so they cant tell you what to wear and what not to wear only they can do is to do they're job and that's being the principal not our parents or the person who buy our clothes.
