Yes. During the Great Leap Forward aka Famine, people in Guanxxi were known to eat the meat from the deceased. There was nothing else. In one case, a boy was killed to be eaten. Edit: Here is something I just found on Wiki: Cannibalism was proven to have occurred in China during the Great Leap Forward, when rural China was hit hard by drought and famine. Reports of cannibalism during the Cultural Revolution in China have also emerged. These reports show that cannibalism was practiced for ideological purposes.
