I need help finding the perimeter of the prism and pyramid? What do you do to find them?

ex. If I have a prism with bases 4ft and 5ft, how do I get the perimeter?

If you have a prism, it will have two bases. Rememeber, the bases are what give the prism its distinct shape. The can not be represented by 1 dimensional lengths such as 4ft and 5ft. Your two bases should be two congruent polygons, such as triangles, rectangles, pentagons....

If you are looking for perimeter in a polygon, most likely it is part of a formula that you are using to try to find the Surface Area of the prism.

Surface Area = Lateral Area + Area of two bases.

Lateral Area = Perimeter of Base * height of prism.

To find the perimeter of one of your bases, figure out which shape is the base, and add up the length of all of the sides.

kinda depends on the shape of the base. perimeter is the sum of the sides of a polygon, so add the base edges. If the base is a square, 4x4 = 16 ft. If the base is a hexagon, 6x4 = 24 ft, and so on.
