I'm assuming you'll be staying on the strip. The local bus is called the Deuce (double decker) bus system. It stops all along the strip for $2.00 per person. $5.00 all day pass. Very easy to find stops and they have ticket machines at most stops otherwise you must have exact change. These buses run every 5 min. Never a problem. There is also an express bus that runs downtown. About every 20 minutes or so. The monorail system that runs behind the hotels, not on the strip, but on the east side can be faster if you need to travel on a weekend because the strip traffic can be horrible. Monorail is $5.per ride or 10 rides for $35. here is the website http://www.lvmonorail.com/ and the website for the deuce is http://www.rtcsnv.com/deuce/

The best way to travel around the strip- from freemont street all the way down to the LV sign, is the Duce. It's a double decker bus that goes EVERYWHERE and it only costs $5 for unlimited rides in a 24 hour period, Just make sure you have exact change because they won't make it for you on the bus. You can get on the bus in front of almost any casino, and you just get off when you want to get off. It's alot of fun, you get to see everything and it really is the cheapest deal in town as far as transportation. My only suggestion is that if you have to be somewhere at a certian time like for a show or wedding...give yourself LOTS of extra time because sometimes the bus has a lot of stops, other times there are no stops- but if your a calm and easy going person, this is a very fun way to get around town!!

The monorail is your best bet. They have multiple day passes for unlimited rides. While the buses are cheap they take forever and you will waste a lot of your vacation trying to get around. I found the taxis expensive.

It is extremely hot in the summer. I just got back on Sunday and last week was in the high 90's and it is only May.

It really depends on how long you intend to stay. If you are going for five or less days and stay at a hotel near the middle of the strip you will have plenty to see and do within walking distance.
