Me and my friend did it and it was insane. It gave us answers that we couldn't have even known and it was right.

I'm not allowed to do it anymore though my crazy mom thinks it has connections to the devil.

Isn't great! You can go to a store, spend some money on some cards or a manufactured printed cardboard. Now you have paranormal ability! Why doesn't everybody do it?

Read about the ideomotor effect.
The ideomotor effect refers to the influence of suggestion or expectaton on involuntary and unconscious motor behavior. The term "ideomotor action" was coined by William B. Carpenter in 1852 in his explanation for the movements of rods and pendulums by dowsers, and some table turning or lifting by spirit mediums (the ones that weren't accomplished by cheating). Carpenter argued that muscular movement can be initiated by the mind independently of volition or emotions. We may not be aware of it, but suggestions can be made to the mind by others or by observations. Those suggestions can influence the mind and affect motor behavior.

Nobody knows about it but inside the ouija board box that it comes in, on the inside there is a group of seven words. You have to have those words and read them outloud to make it work with spirits, otherwise it is just the people playing it that are pushing it. I have used it both ways.

One of the few things I know is this, that most of the stories from people I know that have had a bad experience with the occult starts out with, "We were screwing around with a Ouija board and...."

OK, answer for the occult minded. The Ouija board is used by clearing your mind, and allowing whatever is out there to take a ride. If you don't know how to filter out the nasties, and IF you don't know how to protect yourself, it can be a very nasty experience. Not everything that floats around out there is nice, and some things out there are downright nasty.

Answer for the skeptically minded (all demons are thankful for "rational men"). The Ouija board works by the subconscious mind subtly affecting the muscles in the arm, and moving the indicator around the board. Mostly this is random movements, but sometimes it actually forms words and sentences. Many folks, who aren't very introspective (the TV generation) have numerous repressed emotions, repressed ideas, and other things that they haven't dealt with in their psyche, this is what keeps the psychiatric community in BMW's. Many are not ready to confront, or even to acknowledge these repressions, and can have psychological problems after playing with a Ouija board due to these unresolved issues.

Take your pick.

If you call, something will answer. The objective reality of what answers is immaterial, to the person calling, it is real.

That is what I believe about Ouija boards. I do use the Tarot, but I've found that the "Spiritualism" side of divination is fraught with danger for the unprepared, and if it's treated as a joke can often bite you in the rear. (needless to say, I follow the occult answer)

The Ouija Board as well as other Talking Boards are tools of divination just as Tarot Cards, Runes, I-Ching and scrying are. They allow you to receive messages from The Divine through your Higher Self.

I do not believe they have connections to the Devil since I don't believe in any entity called the Devil or Satan.

Well, one time in college we got the pointer to work all by itself and there was a death, so I'd say. Listen to your mother and don't mess with the dark side, it comes and sometimes sticks like velcro.

there is a lot of controversy when speaking of this game. some say its not real but others swear that it is. i played with a friend we both took our hands off the thingy and it kept on moving...so....i don't know......if you believe then that's your choice. others don't because they don't think spirits or the devil are able to directly speak to us. but we don't know this....... I'm not sure if I'm a believer or not..... but your mom had her reasons to take it away....
