She was NOT asking about breastfeeding so go find another soap box to stand on! Geez! Not all women can or want to breastfeed and don't need to crammed down their throats! My son was a preemie (Almost 3 months early) and when he came home from the hospital a week before his actual due date he was eating 2-3 oz every 3-4 hours for the first week or so.

Depends on her size .. If she is 5-6 pounds, 1 oz is probably all she will do .. some larger babies 8-9 can do 2, but don't get too worried if she doesn't . Let her eat when she wants, then work on the schedule. Try every two hours, 1 oz .. then you can move up to more.
If you are worried about something, talk to your Doctor.
CONGRATS .. a new baby in the house is such a special time.
GL!

Yes please don't worry too much! This week they will be eating on demand. Sometimes they will only eat one ounce next feeding it could be 4. Just try to make a mental note of how much is the daily average. If you start to notice a decline or an inconsistentcy with feedings, then ask your dr. For the meantime just snuggle up to that cute little bundle!

She will let you know. If she is hungery, she will eat. But make sure you offer it every 2 hrs at first and then as the weeks go on move to 3 and 4. She will let you know the routine in a week or so and it will be second nature!
Congrats and good luck!

It is recommended that you breastfeed for at least the first 6 months if not the first year. Both of my girls demand fed especially the first few months, I would say they were getting between 3 and 4 ounces per feed. Breastmilk is the best for your baby and it is free! No bottles to warm up and mix, just sit and go. I wouldn't worry though, if she is eating every few hours I am sure she is fine. Good luck and congrats!
