I'm not sure how much standing water you're dealing with but there are a couple of safe products that should help solve your problem;

1) Mosquito Control Rings contain Bacillus Thuringiensis Israelenis that can be placed in water and the mosquito larvae will feed on them and die. Here's a website where you can purchase them;

This Bacillus is also found in the following products; Mosquito Dunks®, Mosquito Bits®, Vectobac®

2) Pre-Strike® contains the active ingredient called "Methoprene" and is an insect growth regulator that interferes with the normal development of mosquitoes. It must be present in the larval habitat to be effective. Larvae continue to grow until they reach the pupal stage, at which point they die.

Methoprene is also sold as "Altosid" and it can be purchased at:

Both of these products can be found on various websites but I supplied them so you can view and understand their method of applications.

GOOD LUCK!

I stay in Manitoba, Canada mosquito capital of the universe. there is no answer to eliminate them, fogging is a momentary answer as they often come again day after today. Dragon flies and bats do an excellent activity yet there are extra mosquitoes than bats and dragon flies so as that they'd on no account shop up with the quantity around right here. some human beings have chanced on a environmentally friendly fulfillment whilst they have positioned a teaspoon of vegetable oil in status water in ditches and puddles because it spreads a remarkable action picture over the stunning the place the larvae stay and suffocates them. Mosquitoes do not understand approximately belongings lines so will purely pass over out of your neighbour's backyard in the event that they scent blood. i haven't considered any dragon flies yet this season however the bats are in business enterprise in my back backyard at approximately 4:30am. you are able to hear them talking to a minimum of one yet another and notice the feeding, they fly very right now are stunning to visual reveal unit. The mosquitoes are nonetheless accessible nevertheless whilst i pass out interior the morning, i assume i'm fortunate the bats are working the mosquitoes would be worse. Deep Woods Off or Muskol are on my grocery record interior the summertime.

Actually, there is quite a bit of misinformation out there about the so-called 'citronella plant' or 'mosquito bush'. The scented geranium has been given that name by very saavy promoters! It merely smells like citronella, and does not have the actual essential citronella oil in it.

The real citronella plant is a one of two grasses of the Cymbopogon genus. The oil citronellal is what is repellant to many insects and it only releases oils when its leaves are crushed. It does virtually nothing just sitting in a pot or planted nearby.

Mosquito dunks are probably your best bet. The mosquito dunks are a biological control agent, Bt for Bacillus thurengiensis. They can be put in any wet places including bird baths without hurting anything except mosquitoes. Every community should be using this for mosquito control.

Wow, you have a problem but you know that. I don't have a miracle answer and the other suggestions given you aren't going to be effective. What has to happen is that the woods get a drainage system to remove the standing water. Or you need to spray an insecticide over the whole woods about once a week from spring to fall. Neither one sounds practical do they?

Those plants that they claim repel mosquitoes, don't. At least, they won't just sitting there. The only way to get them to release their oils is to crush the leaves. My neighbor was having a problem with mosquitoes growing in her birdbath. She found these tablets that you can drop into the water. They don't hurt anything except the larvae (we've yet to find a dead or sick or dead bird.) These things work great! anytime it rains, if you can brave it, just go find the pools of water and drop one of these things in. it'll keep them out of your hair for the most part. Unfortunately, there is no way to make sure they keep away for good.

O.K.here goes, buy some bottles of rubbing alcohol and a bottle of oil of citronella, pour a very small amount of citronella in the alcohol and slosh it on and around you. The scent drives mosquito's away.when you buy mosquito repellent this simple mixture is what you pay high dollars for in very small quantities.It is another ripoff so make your own now.It really works.

I would go talk to the Mayor,City Council and the Health Dept. Maybe, this might rattle someones cage and get them off their duff and get this problem fixed.This might not be the solution but, at least it's a start.
