I will be just over 11 weeks pregnant when I go on vacation next week. We might go to an amusement park and just wanted to know if I have to sit out the roller coasters.

The risk of miscarrying because of a roller coaster is the same as in a car crash, and for the same reason...the impact on the abdomen, and most of all the chance of placental abruption, which is when the placenta becomes detatched from the uterine wall, meaning baby can no longer get nouirishment and will die. It doesn't happen every time (some babies are born perfectly fine after their mothers are in horrible car crashes, too), but because it does happen sometimes...you shouldn't take the risk. Rides that are out-of-bounds to pregnant women will have a sign posted, and it's there for a REASON. Only ride rides that don't have that sign...but they may not be the most exciting ride. It's not much fun, but it's worth giving up roller coasters this one time to have a healthy baby, right?

There's nothing about the roller coasters themselves that will cause a miscarriage. It's how YOU react to them. If you're going to get totally freaked out and stress out, etc. that's not good for baby... but if you like 'em and you're used to 'em, then it's FINE!!

I rode roller coasters during first trimester of 2 out of 4 pregnancies.

For what it's worth - the signs they post... COME ON! It's called Cover Your Butt! They have to say that just in case something ever WERE to happen they could say, "Well, we warned you!"

The first trimester is the most ciritical for your baby's development. I would not recommend vigirous activities, like riding a roller coaster. Talk to your doctor and see what s/he says about the issue.

NO, Your first trimester is the main fragile, its not risk-free in any respect to journey a curler coaster you need to break your infant or perhaps loose it, in case you think that your pregnant i does not recommend you pass on any rides for the sake of your infant. do not take the possibility you do not choose something undesirable to take place you will basically blame your self.

NOOO the first trimester IS the most CRITICAL trimester, this is the trimester where the baby is at a high risk for birth defects and so forth and you on the other hand is at a high risk for a miscarriage so ... just wait until the baby is born!

Definately not. There is a reason all the rides say no to heart patients, pregnant ladies and people with back pain. Please dont even kid yourself with the kiddie rides. Keep it simple with things which are safe for a small baby like slow riding cars, maybe merry go round. You havent completed your first trimester, more reason for you to be careful.

If it was a very slow, mild rollercoaster, maybe. (Like a kids one)
I don't think this is something you should be considering doing though. Most of those rides say you cannot be on them if you are pregnant though. Not worth risking the health of you & your baby I don't think, just for a silly ride.

My friend rode a fair ride in her first trimester and had a miscarriage because of it. I wouldn't risk it.

Almost all rides at amusement parks have signs prohibiting pregnant women from riding them, and you are pregnant, so you should stay off them!

there is a reason they post signs that tell you not to ride if you're pg. to many aggressive movements. in a rough coaster you could tear the placenta loose.
