The Stooges(group that invented punk rock) self titled 1st album
and some good Garage Rock Songs that are never played on the radio
"Ain't got nothing yet" by Blues Magoos
"Pushin too Hard" by The Seeds
"Shake" by Shadows of Knight
"Little Girl" by the Syndicate of Sound
Kind of a broad question but I figured you know the songs and groups they beat to death on the radio so I figured I'd give you some you don't hear about(except Jimi Hendrix because that album is off the charts!). Why The Velvet Underground don't get play is beyond me!

Evanescence. They're a variety of different themes, from classical to metal and the singing is awesome. There's also Breaking Benjamin, Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Red Hot Chili Peppers, LInkin Park, Panic!at the Disco, 30 Seconds to Mars. Some of my favorite songs from them include American Idiot, Missing, Breath, Numb, and Welcome to the Black Parade. None are death metal. Hope it helped!

If you are willing to go back in time I would very highly recommend the early music of The Rolling Stones. They were a great rock band back in the day. As for songs I would reccomend "Satisfaction, Sympathy For The Devil, Gimme Shelter, Paint it Black and Under My Thumb are among my favorites.

My absolute fav is the Smashing Pumpkins. My two fav songs are Mayonnaise and Rhinocerous.
If youre into hearing something a bit different and not as mainstream, check out The Hush Sound. Its upbeat and unique. Very cool.
