I had the very same thing. My nose would bleed for no reason which I knew of. I went to the doctor, and he told me that a small vein in my nose had to be cauterized. It was not painful at all. He did it in his office. I have not had a nose bleed since. This goes back about 5 years ago.
Until you do go have it cauterized to stop it, you should lie down on a bed and keep your head tilted back. An ice pack, plus a cottonball pakced into the nostril will stop the bleeding after about 5 to 10 minutes. However take care of it as soon as possible by the doctor. It is pretty unpleasant to keep getting nose bleeds.

You should let your Mom know that you have it - right now is a horrible time for sinus problems and dry nasal passages can bleed. I would tell your Mom tho and she can mention it to your doctor if you haven't ever had one before - Pinch your nose between your thumb and forefinger, and apply moderate pressure by squeezing against the nasal septum'the midsection of your nose'for 15 minutes. Lean your head forward, not backward, so that the blood does not trickle down your throat. This will prevent a feeling of gagging. Breathe through your mouth.Apply a cold, soft compress around your nose as you continue to pinch it between your fingers. Dont blow your nose for an hour so after it stops. But tell your Mom about this!!!

Don't worry that happens to me too. It either means there was a change in air pressure in your environment or you have very thin nose tissue. (Or that you pick your nose but I doubt it since you're 14.) What ever people tell you DON'T hold your head back. It's bad for you. Just take a deep breath and pinch the bridge of your nose. Eventually it will go away. Good luck!

I used to have nose bleeds all the time as a kid, first of all, I would suggest going to the Doctor or Emergancy Room especially if you have had more than one a day and your feeling light headed. (They will ask you all sorts of questions such as do you have allergies - (more than likely it has caused a dry nose) or if you do any drugs (hopefully not but be honest)
- you could also try this ...
put your "pointer" finger under the lip at the bottom of your nose and apply pressure. this usually worked for me but its still best to get it checked out.

Pinch your nose together at the smallest place and hold it for several minutes.
Place an ice pack on your nose and hold your head back.
The ice will stop the bleeding!
This works for me when nothing else will.
Don't be scared....it is your bodies way of preventing you from having a stroke or something like that. It is a normal reflex. I used to get them all the time.

First call someone for help! Plus, why r u on the computer if this happened? If it last that long and blood is gushing out theres something wrong. You can't lose 2 much blood or you'll pass out. You this info for future refrences.

ok i TOTALLY know where u are coming from. It's allergies. I had a bloody nose every day of my life until i was ten because of allergies. After i broke my wrist i asked my doctor why i had bloody noses ( and yes headaches too). He said it was allergies and to put (using tissue AND pinky finger) a bit of Vaseline ( yes vaseline) in each nostril before you sleep. I haven't had a bloody nose ever since! Trust me ! IT WORKS WONDERS.

Pinch the narrow part of your nose and tip your head FORWARD, not back. Tipping it back means that the blood goes down the back of your throat and then you throw up - which isn't good if you are trying to stop a nosebleed!

put an ice pack on your forehead, the nose bleeds very easily and seems like alot because the lining is very thin. you may have to go to a Ear Nose & throat Dr. and they can cauterize it, very quick and painless and will take care of that messy nose problem

Pinch your nostrils and keep your head back. There might be a lot of blood because you broke a blood vessel - which takes a little time to seal. If this doesn't work, then you should probably try calling a walk-in clinic and asking them for advice.
