I have been looking at the night sky and wondering if you can see a planet that is in the south-western sky. I was thinking it was Mars, but my astronomy teacher said that it wasn't. So I don't know.

Venus is the very bright object seen in the West (not Southwest) about 40 degrees above the horizon shortly after sunset. Saturn, not nearly as bright, is seen high in the southern sky shortly after sunset.

In the early evening, right now it's Venus.

I don't think there is any planet in the south western sky.Venus is west in the evening.

I would assume Venus.

It would be Venus, if you are in the northern hemisphere. If you are in the southern hemisphere, it is Mars.
