th gas companies. they have full control over their market. oil is down, per barrel, and yet the prices rise, because they can. these jokers who think the president has anything to do with it don't know what the hell they're talking about. he wishes he had control like that. bush may be able to give "big oil" tax breaks, but that is where his power ends. as long as we continue to be a gas guzzling nation, needing our cars and mowers and chainsaws, etc, then those companies have a demand to fill. they know that no matter what price they put on the product, americans won't quit driving or using their toys. they do it because they can

I blame a combination of people, 1. Our dependency on oil and gas 2. The govt for not taking a more active role 3.Oil companies is the biggest reason they have been doing this for decades just look at the old shows from the 70's like Good Times they still talk about gas prices hurting people and how much was gas back then 15 cents, 25 cents? But then again $1 was like having $5 dollars today.

It hasnt effected me financially as my investments keep pace and also I find deals and specials

We had a debate about this in my business communications course. I did some research, and the oil companies are to blame for the high gas prices, not the gas stations. The oil prices are going up because the cost of getting oil is going up. Some people say that we should cap gas prices, but Hawaii already tried this and it didn't work. I really don't blame anyone in particular for the high gas prices because no on determines what price we will pay for gas--the market does. If there is a high demand for gas, the supply of gas will decrease, and this will just make the prices rise. We have absolute zero control over supply and demand. Supply and demand just depends on how much oil is available (and we don't know how much oil there really is in the world). And yes, this affecting me financially. It is putting a BIG dent in my pocketbook.

Who do I blame - supply and demand.

I changed cars from a Nissan Maxima that got around 28MPG to a Prius that gets around 50MPG. The end result, I spend a little less for a tank of gas at todays price than I did with the Maxima 3 years ago. So financially, what's affecting me is the car payment, not so much the price of gas itself.

oil companies. There isn't a shortage as bad as they claim...yet.

Yes,it is affecting me financially. More trips to the pump. You get ripped in the gas tank. For example let's say you put in $10.00 worth--you're getting less than 4 gallons. That might do you 2 days depending on how much driving you do.

I have an hour drive to and from work, so yeah it's hurting me financially. I blame the car companies for not coming out with mass produced cars that work on alternative fuel sources. Then I blame OPEC for constantly cutting back oil production. Arrrgh, OPEC.

GWB and congress.....and yes it is i fill up about twice a week and they wonder why no one is buying durable goods ...we have to pay the ever rising cost of gas and it effects all ..even the food we eat is going to cost more because it cost more to get to the market and they are going to pass the price right on to the consumer...every thing goes up but wages....it really burns me also when you see oil compaines post record profits for a quarter like almost 100 bil dollars

You and I are for driving big trucks and cars.

Supply and demand with greed from the oil companies.

One oil company said, "there are not enough gas refineries and why build more, then the price would go down."

It hurts me in that I have less disposable income to spend on family and me.

It really only affect California and states with tough environmental standards. Also how many times have we ever heard of a Democrat turning down a new Tax? George Bush's fault I don't think so.

I don't blame anyone but I'm sure they could have helped
everyone out by having more hybrid vehicles. Yes it
affects us. But I try to save a little bit by walking to
the places that are close enough (weather providing).
