Everyone has told you at 6 weeks... and that you don't HAVE to which is all true but it is really really important to make sure you are healed and everything. And why not? After going through a pregnancy and birth you've already had to do it a hundred times before.
I didn't do it when I was supposed to and it turned out I wasn't completely healed (even though I didn't have to get stitches or anything) and I reinjured myself! Just make sure its all in working order!

While the typical and standard answer is yes, the real answer is no. You don't HAVE to. Really now, are you going to take orders from somebody regarding your own vagina? Now if you feel it's a good idea, by all means, do it. The bottom line is, it's your body and therefore your decision.

If you so choose, it would typically be done at your 6 week check up, or anytime after that you wish. It is recommended by most physicians, that women have a pap smear every year.
