Man-made materials is bad for absorbing bad odors. What works for me is rubbing baking soda into the fabric. Make the garment good and gritty with the stuff. Put it in a bucket and pour vinegar over it until saturated. Let it soak overnight. Wash it like normal in the morning.
Hope it helps.

Put the (dry) shirt in a bag with a dumped box of baking soda. Tied closed. Leave it in there for a few days. Then put in the washer and soak for about an hour. Wash with detergent as usual.
Good luck.

You didnt say what the fabric the shirt was made of.
If it`s not silk, then hang the shirt outdoors for a whole day and then wash. This should make the shirt come out smelling fresh.

Hope this helps

wash it with extra detergent and some baking soda and then instead of putting it in the dryer put it OUTSIDE to air dry...leave it out there until it doesnt smell anymore (sometimes take a few days) if it still stinks...throw it out!
