HI and no, it is not a silly question! The extra secretions are due to your hormones being out of whack and these are made inside your vagina they do not come from your womb. These hormones are working like mad to get you prepared for having the baby.

i think of it is purely conventional. If the ultrasound reported that your cervix is in stable shape for the being pregnant than i'd say that each and every thing is conventional. The rigidity you experience is purely the baby transforming into, stable success!

it somes from your cervix this is the reason it is called cervical mucus. your cervix has mucus membrane just as your nose does. it is dues to the extra hormones and extra bloodflow to the mucus membrane. it may also seem like your nose is more stuff and your ears may seem stuffy as well when you're preggy

One reason could be because of "increased estrogen and greater blood flow to the vaginal area."
But, it could also be a sign of a bacterial infection common in pregnancy. Either way an OB could tell you.
