in that British media sources openly tell you where they're coming from?

I'm not saying Britan is better overall, but I have a greater respect for their media (as does the rest of the world), and even subscribe to The Economist. In Britain the newspapers let you know what their political affiliation is. Instead we have Fox News and The New York Times, both on opposite sides of the political spectrum, both claiming to be completely objective.

Wow and a NEW LOW

Since Britain is so great, why do you feel the need to get on here and boast? Not admirable behavior.

I think that it lies in the fundamental differences of the two societies. I think that since the US was founded by English settlers that wanted religious freedom they value the rights of the individual over that of the state.

In Britain it is the opposite and people value the rights of the state over the rights of an individual. That is why the media is much more balanced in the UK than it is in the US.

For example in Britain the media will criticize the policies of the government, but will not criticize the person. In the US it is frowned upon to criticize the governments policies, but not the individual. Look at how President Clinton was demonized because he had an affair.

America's media is corrupt. It wants favors from Big Government so it lies for the Republicans. For example in the 2000 presidential debates the night Mr. Bush's horrible environmental record as governor of Texas came up, the "press" emphasized over and over and over again that Vice President Gore sighed. Wow. And even now they are giving lots of air time to Ralph Nader again because they want to split the Democratic vote and have the Republicans win so they can get more concentration of ownership of stations. It is evil. Sad. The best thing you can do is boycott everything that advertises on TV.

Americans should educate themselves with more than just what goes on in their backyards. As much as American TV is entertaining the news is also treated like entertainment. It is very biased and inaccurate whether it is the major networks or CNN. FOX news is the worst. It is sad that Americans can not handle any objective views on things, and those that can and do I applaud you.
