Ok, the last few days I have been very EXHAUSTED. (like when you are coming down with something) and also a little nauseious every now and then.. I didn't think too much of it, because I felt like this is the beginning of the pregnancy ( I am 25 weeks now)
But today, I was nauseous all day and when I did eat, I had diarrhea not too long after. I ate lunch and started to feel nauseous while eating, so I stopped... I went to the bathroom to put water on my face (which was RED) and went to the bathroom. I had very watery diarrhea which was reddish in color and black specks all throughout. I took my temp and it is 98.7.... no fever, yet I feel like crap.

There has been a "shigella' outbreak in my area, which is a bacteria thats main symptom is diarrhea. I do plan on calling the doctor in the morning regardless, but do you all think I should go into the ER tonight, even though I don't have a fever? anf also, what does this sound like to you all? I am kind of freaking out.

As long as you continue to take in plenty of fluids then you should be ok. But I would call your ob and let them know what is going on and they can tell you what they think. Hope you feel better.

Its been 3 hrs since you posted this but I hope you went to the ER. If not, please go. We had a shigella outbreak in our town also, about a month ago, mainly at a few of the schools. I researched it extensively because my son goes to one of the schools and we were all paranoid. Especially me because I am also pregnant. If the diarrhea had a reddish tint, and looked like blood specks, that is a sympom of shigella. I don't think it poses a danger to the baby, but it is treated with antibiotics. Either way, it is better to find out ASAP. Also, at my son's school a lot of the kids started taking little bottles of hand sanitizer with them every day and that seemed to help because there haven't been any more cases. If you have a child in school, maybe you could send a bottle with him/her while this is going around.

The redness in your face makes me believe your blood pressure could be up- is there any way you could check it?
Of course, it could always just be something you ate making you sick. The virus going around is always a good candidate as to why you're feeling so bad, but there wouldn't be a whole lot the doctor could do besides anti-nausea and anti-diarrhea meds. As for being more tired then normal, you're getting close to your 3rd trimester, and it's normal for the tiredness to come on again like it was for your first trimester.
I would definitely head to the doctor in the morning though if the symptoms don't get better. You shouldn't be dehydrated overnight unless you're puking or having diarrhea almost non-stop, so waiting till the morning shouldn't hurt anything.
I hope everything is ok- take care!

Well hun, I know if it was me...I couldn't wait just because of the fact that I am a worry wart and I would rather be safe than sorry. As I was reading this I thought that you just picked up a little bug, but use your judgment and go from there. If you feel more comfortable sitting in the ER waiting room all night then do that, if not then just call the doc in the morning. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids...and have some Gatorade. It will help too =)

Hope you feel better soon =)

At 25 weeks you should be able to feel little kicks. If you have felt them and don't feel them now or at least 3times in a hour then i would go to the ER. But if the baby is kicking, I would wait. If you haven't felt the baby kick yet and this is your first day of diarrea and your heart rate is normal, i would wait if it was me but if for some reason you feel that you need to go then go always trust your 1st thought. But like i said take your pulse on your hand and count it for 15 sec then times it by 4 if it is over 115 several times you took it then you could be very dehydrated and it would be a good idea to go to the ER and get some fluids for the baby and yourself. Being dehydrated often causes contractions and fluids would help prevent this.

go to the er. Now!! I assume you have not been keeping up w/fluids and are very possibily dehydrated. I was hospitalized w/severe dehydration at about 25 weeks. I had similiar symptons and didnt feel that bad. You need to make sure that the baby is okay, which most likely he/she is. You also have to be healthy as well.

I do not know what this could be but it doesn't sound normal(meaning anything related with pregnancy) I would definaltey call our OB and ask them what they think. They will have someone on call if it is past hours. They may want you to go into the ER or they may want to see you. I hope you get to feelin better.

Sounds to me like a GI virus. As long as there is no fever, I would just make sure you keep your fluid intake up and call the doctor in the morning.

I'd just drink plenty of water, get some rest and go to the doctors tomorrow.

But its your health so its up to you, if you think its serious enough to merit a trip to ER then go
