I am using Miller Lite cans to make a beer pong table and I want to draw out the plans in AutoCad beforehand.

Take a tape measure around the can to get the circumference of the can. Then use the equation for circumference of a circle (C=2ttr or C= ttD) to figure the diameter. Keep in mind that tt (referred to as pi) = approx. 3.14 - that's the standard.

For example, let's say you measure the circumference of the circle at 6 inches. Then use the equation, 6 = 3.14d. Divide both sides by 3.14 to get the diameter. That means that the diameter of the can would be 1.91 inches.

originally there was only one country making cans so everybody had to use them. There was only 1 size so all packaging, shelving, vending machines etc were made to suit. once more sizes became available most people kept the standard size as it was too costly to change. metrication came along and the can was converted into the nearest equivalent which was 440ml.

The cans are 5.5 inches (14 cm) in diameter.

no real offense to 1 and 2...Diameter not circumferance.

at the top/cap/lip the diam is 2 1/8... depending on the can tapering to the top or not the mid way diam ia approx. 2 1/2
