Atheism is defined as a negative, and consequently there's no real motivation to do anything except attempt to hinder those they disagree with. It's one of the reasons that the democrats are in such trouble right now: they've defined themselves as anti-republican for so long that once they're allowed to define their own agenda they have a hard time doing it. But I digress, and I don't mean to imply that democrats are in any way anti-religion. I don't think there really are any atheist leaders, as particular people will rise up to fight against a single perceived transgression, and then fade back into obscurity. There is no cohesion. Some might say that the ACLU would qualify, but they've gone to bat for people's rights to express their religion as well as keeping religion out of government, so I think that's a bad example. There HAVE been atheist leaders throughout history who imposed atheism and oppressed religion, namely the socialists/communists such as Stalin, Mao, and Ho Chi Mihn. All they really accomplished was a long, bloody road from capitalism to capitalism.

Athiests are a relatively small minority, and one with little interest in banding together to oppress other minorities. And, when an Athiest does reach prominence, he's not at all likely to very publically credit his religion - unlike, say Christians, who thank god very publically every chance they get.

Would Atheists allow you to smoke or hire you if you do smoke? Would they allow you to still observe your religion or be free thinking enough to allow for you not to observe one if you choose not to. Would atheists get into your personal and private life beyond the workplace or on your breaks? Makes me wonder who's in office now!

Didn't know there were any, most say they are Christians or religious. Not a good political move to admit you are.
