If the cracks are getting bigger, you should change them immediately. It is dangerous.

Lol, if you replaced the word "windshield" in your sentences with the word "@ss," your question would have been much funnier.
You should always try to take care of small cracks in the windshield right away before they get bigger because they're much cheaper to fix and sometimes your auto insurance company won't charge you for anything to have a tiny crack fixed. You can usually get a tiny crack fixed without having to replace the windshield but if it's a bigger than a dollar bill, you should replace your windshield entirely.
I wouldn't say it's safe to drive around with the crack. Will your insurance cover it? If you have glass coverage, file a claim. If no glass coverage, don't report the claim and just make an appt with an auto glass company right away.

ticket vs. new windshield.....I'd say get a new windshield.
dangerous.....I doubt it. for years front windshields have had a laminate applied specifically not to allow it to break into a "million" pieces and cut you up.
now a simple single line crack is unlikely to get you a ticket, but a "spider web crack" specifically directly in front of you will quite possibly get you a ticket for obscured view. It may however be a "fix it ticket" (like a head light out), but it may not be too.
from the way you describe the crack now it is unlikely they can fix the damage, but rather replace it. as soon as you see the small crack (about the size of a quarter) go and get it fixed. I got mine fixed and since it prevented the need for a new windshield, my insurance paid the deductible.

You will need to replace it before you next go to inspection, or earlier if a police officer notices it.
I doubt if it is a real safety issue since the windshield is laminated safety glass and will not break per se. The only thing I do no is that you will never pass inspection with a crack like that.

If it's not obstructing your view you can drive indefinitely without being pulled over for it or cited for it.
If you're worried about the windshield breaking, generally cracks have to compromise about a whole third of the windshield to pose a serious threat to breaking. If you're still in doubt, take it to a repair shop and see if you can get a quote on it, and whether it's safe to drive.

You really should replace it right away. A cracked windshield can shatter under the pressure of the wind when you're driving, especially if you have to drive any faster than 35 or so.

It's probably not very safe, but not unheard of.
If you live in England, I've heard adverts on the radio about a company called Autoglass who you can call to come to your car anywhere (even at work) and replace it for free? Worth looking into.
But anyhow, I'd rather replace it sooner than later.

Try to get it fixed as soon as possible. The glass in a typical windshield may shatter into a zillion pieces if you hit a good sized bump in the road.

It's not really safe, because it can distract you while driving, but honestly, you should be fine unless you have ADD.
You should get it fixed before it really starts to obstruct your vision, or before it gets too noticeable from a distance, because you can get a ticket for it.
