Depends on the way you access MSN. If you go direct then you get the winks, if you go via another service (e.g. Yahoo!) then no winks. Saw this Saturday night chatting with my daughter and her Mum. Daughter and me go direct to MSN with Hotmail addresses, her Mother goes on MSN via a Yahoo! mail address.

on msn messgenger box look on top right ther you will see square box with arrow click on it and select tools then select show emotions( should have a tick there ) now you will see the winks.. Hope this works for you

Perhaps you have an older version of Windows Live Messenger?

I'd suggest that you try to look through the settings and options to check if you have the settings enabled for that. If not, you may want to reinstall it.
