I'm sure every one on here has heard that the money WE'VE paid into social security will be going to the illegal immigrants. Isn't it enough that the taxes WE pay are all ready going to them now for welfare? My 63 year old mother can't even get medicare, yet the money she has been paying all her life is going to people who haven't paid a cent to our country. Maybe we should stop paying taxes & we'll be rewarded. I've been hearing for years that their won't be any social security when I retire, now I know the rumors are true. My husband has more money deducted from his check every week than some people in this country make in a month. I am so tired of supporting the lazy people in this country. The only people in this country who should be able to receive government help are the elderly, who have worked all their lives & the people who are unable to work. We need to shut not only the borders but also the free-ride lines. If this offends you, oh well.

They'll just keep writing checks.

Or, they'll wise up and start to streamline government. Why do we have a military (other than invading other countries), state police, county police, and local police? Every other country just has police, and they follow local laws. Why do we have CIA, NSA, and FBI? Can't all of it essentially be folded under one law enforcement agency?

Why do we waste government money teaching high school students french and how to play the stock market?

Why do our doctors go to school twice as long as others, and our medical care ranks far behind? We waste, waste, waste. Once we start to run government like big business, minus the 400 million dollar severance packages (see Bob Nardelli who received that after driving Home Depot stock into the ground), we'll see a government with money left over.

But, in the meantime, we'll just keep writing checks, and charging our kids double to pay our bills. Me personally, I plan to save up a quarter mil and retire as an expat somewhere tropical.

We don't retire. If you were born after 1959, you will work until you die.

Oddly enough though, one thing that could change that /is/ immigration. If we allow enough relatively young people to come to this country and work, they could support you through your Socialist Security-collecting years.

...of course, and even larger population base of young people would be requried to support /them/ when it's thier turn...

"We" had better be saving as much as possible for retirement.
Uncle Sam will not be there for us.
I am putting half my take home pay in savings for retirement.
